My Story
I have always loved working with children. I have worked with them in play therapy, in libraries and bookshops, in a charity and in early years settings.
Several years after my daughter was born, I started the Early Years Steiner Waldorf Teacher Training Course. There, I found an interest in puppetry and later began to perform puppet plays for young children at various venues. In 2004 I became involved with ‘Puppets for Peace Day’ (see link), inspiring others to put on plays in aid of peace on that day, and I continue to do so each year.
Around this time I helped to start up a storytelling group in Herefordshire and realised how much I loved learning and telling stories, without the go-between of a puppet. Since then I have told stories at the local library, at birthday parties, at festivals and fundraising events to children of all ages.
I particularly like to tell stories that connect children to nature, the seasons and the earth. I also like to share tales from other cultures to show honour and respect for different ways of life and people across the globe. I am fond of Japanese, Cornish and Inuit stories (now, there’s a combination!), have started to collect tales of hares, cranes and the sun and stories that ‘build bridges’, but I love all stories that create magic, nourish the soul and feed the spirit.
So. Let me tell you a story….. |
